What Recordkeepers changes
How the game plays differently from Pokémon Emerald, then every stat, type and ability it alters next to what the official games do.
How the game plays
Recordkeepers keeps Emerald's engine and throws out the rest. You play Tiana, a Recordkeeper working through the Archive's myths, and each myth is a run: pick a weather affinity, receive a fixed weather-setter and two Pokémon drawn from that affinity's pool, all at level 100, and walk into the Myth Hub. Nine areas branch off it. The first always holds the ten pseudo-legendaries; the other eight are dealt from twelve legendary groups — the Birds, the Beasts, the Golems, the Lake Guardians, the Swords, the Forces of Nature, the Tapus, the Treasures of Ruin, the Loyal Three, the Galarian Birds and two Paradox trios — and in each you choose which member to fight. Three minibosses guard every area and each one beaten hands you a move; each boss beaten hands you an ability, and any move or ability you hold can be equipped on any of your three. Bosses fight alone, in phases, with a scripted move rotation per phase and a full heal between them, and the more of them you beat the more of their innate abilities switch on. When you are ready, a door in the hub leads to the myth's final boss. This guide lists every group, every pool and every fight exactly as the game's source defines them.
How a run is built
Before a run you choose a Myth in the Archive — which final boss you are heading for — and an affinity at the entrance. The game then deals the run: Area 1 is always the pseudo-legendary group; the twelve legendary groups are shuffled and the first eight become Areas 2 to 9. Your affinity's miniboss list is shuffled and the first 27 are dealt three to an area.
In an area you can fight the three minibosses in any order or skip them, then step up to the shrine, scroll through the group's members and pick the boss. Beating a boss heals your party, grants its ability, and adds one to your boss count. The door to the final boss is open from the start; nothing forces you to clear all nine first, but every boss beaten is an ability in hand.
| Group | Members (you choose one) |
|---|---|
| Pseudo-legendaries (always Area 1) | Dragonite, Tyranitar, Metagross, Salamence, Garchomp, Hydreigon, Goodra, Kommo-o, Dragapult, Baxcalibur |

Enemies get stronger as you win
Your own three are level 100 from the first fight to the last and never change. A boss or miniboss is level 90 when the run starts and gains one level for every boss you have beaten this run, so the ninth boss of a full clear is level 98 and its minibosses 98 too. A final boss is always level 100.
Every boss and miniboss has an ability and up to three innate abilities. The innates are switched off at the start of a run and come on with your boss count: the first once you have beaten two bosses, the second at four, the third at six. A final boss has all of its innates from the first turn. In the Winter story the rule is simpler: a boss has as many innates active as you have beaten bosses in that run.
Phases
A miniboss has two phases, a boss three, a final boss four. When its HP would hit zero in any phase but the last it flinches, restores to full and moves to the next phase, which has its own move rotation. The rotations are fixed and listed on each fight's page: the enemy uses the moves in that order and then starts again. Damage is also scaled down: the damage roll divides by 175 for your attacks and by 200 for the enemy's instead of the usual 100, so everything hits for roughly half of what it would in a normal game, your side a little harder.
Affinity and style: your starting team
Sun, Rain, Sand or Snow sets which weather your team is built around; Grace, Favor or Prayer sets how the weather-setter brings it (a direct ability, a conditional one, or a move it has to use). The setter is fixed; two more are drawn from the affinity's pool, without repeats. Everyone is level 100 and knows two moves to start. Random picks all of it for you.
| Affinity | Style | Weather-setter | Starting moves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rain | Grace | Politoed | Surf and Amnesia |
| Rain | Favor | Bronzong | Metal Burst and Recover |

Two of these join the setter. The last column is the extra Pokémon each pool gains once the Winter story has been beaten.

What each miniboss gives you
Beat a miniboss and this move goes into storage. Most rewards are a boosted 'plus' version of a normal move, often with a cooldown or a stat bonus while equipped; the move pages carry the details. The source also defines a separate Sand list (118 species, adding Ursaluna, Flygon, Probopass, Rampardos, Starmie, Garganacl, Hydrapple), but the run-setup code in v1.2.1 points Sand affinities at the Rain list, so a Sand run draws the Rain minibosses and that is what this guide shows.

Nightmare after Christmas
The fourth Myth, added in v1.2, unlocks after the other three are cleared. It runs three stages instead of nine areas: each stage offers three of the run's areas, you take one boss (and its minibosses) per stage, then face Delibird. Clearing it adds a seventh Pokémon to every starting pool.
From the game's own source code (hunt_setup.c, hunt_setup_data.h, the tarc_ai tables and the species data), read at the v1.2.1 tag.
The main changes
- A run is nine areas off a hub: Area 1 is always the 10 pseudo-legendaries, Areas 2 to 9 are eight of twelve legendary groups, shuffled every run
- 52 bosses, 4 final bosses and 136 minibosses, every one fought alone with a scripted move rotation per phase
- Four Myths to choose from in the Archive: Lugia, Xerneas, Giratina, and the Winter story against Delibird once the first three are cleared
- Your team is three Pokémon at level 100: a weather-setter fixed by your affinity and style (Sun, Rain, Sand or Snow; Grace, Favor or Prayer) plus two drawn from a pool
- No levels, no items, no TMs: minibosses drop moves, bosses drop abilities, and you equip up to four moves and four abilities on each of your three
- Enemies scale with your wins: bosses and minibosses start at level 90 and gain a level per boss beaten, and their innates switch on after two, four and six boss wins — so the order you take the areas in matters
- Bosses fight in phases (two for a miniboss, three for a boss, four for a final boss) and heal to full at each phase change
- 18 moves that are this game's own and 89 new abilities, folded into pokeemerald-expansion's tables; moves carry cooldowns and equip bonuses
How the Pokémon change
Measured from the guide's own data, so it can't drift from the pages it links to.
Compared against present-day official data. The Fairy type and hidden abilities arrived after Pokémon Emerald, so a difference here can belong to the series rather than to this hack.
