About ROM Hack Guides

Playing a Pokémon ROM hack usually means keeping the creator's documentation open in another window: a text file listing every route's encounters, another with every changed moveset, another with every trainer. It's all there, but it isn't searchable and it doesn't know where you are in the game.

ROM Hack Guides turns that documentation into a proper guide. Search a route, click a Pokémon, tell it how many badges you have and it tells you what you can catch right now and what still needs Surf, a fishing rod or a later badge. Every guide is generated from the hack's own files, so the numbers match the game you're playing rather than the vanilla version.

Credit where it's due

The hacks belong to the people who make them; each guide credits its author and links to the official release thread. We don't host ROMs, patches or install instructions — get those from the creator so they get the downloads and the feedback. If you're a hack author and want a guide added, corrected or removed, email us.

Run by

ROM Hack Guides is a South FL Media project, run by Bryan Puckett. The site is free; hosting costs are covered by the occasional tip and by ads. Source data corrections are welcome on GitHub.

Sprites and reference data

Pokémon sprites are from the PokéAPI sprite collection; base move data and TM compatibility come from PokéAPI, with TM locations cross-checked against Bulbapedia. Pokémon is © Nintendo / Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK Inc.
