What Pokémon Timeless Diamond & Spaceless Pearl changes
How the game plays differently from Pokémon Diamond / Pokémon Pearl, then every stat, type and ability it alters next to what the official games do.
How the game plays
Aurum's expansion of Diamond and Pearl, built around the question of what the games would look like with another year in the oven. Platinum's story beats and post-game rematches are folded into the original Sinnoh, the regional Pokédex grows to 242 species (all of Platinum's additions included) while every one of the 493 Pokémon that existed at the time can still be found somewhere in the region, and a password system unlocks bonus content over time. Seven Pokémon were given new types, and Pokémon and move stats across the board were brought up to Generation IX standards, with a Faithful patch available for anyone who wants the original Generation IV numbers instead. Reusable TMs, new evolution items in place of trade evolutions, an Advance Radar for rare encounters, and daily gym leader, Elite Four and Champion rematches round out the changes. The creator's wiki that this guide is built from covers every species and every wild encounter table in full, plus the exact, narrow set of differences between the two versions — but it never published a trainer roster of any kind, so this guide has no gym leader, Elite Four, rival or route-trainer section.
The main changes
- All 493 Pokémon existing at the time obtainable somewhere in Sinnoh, across a 242-species regional Pokédex that folds in Platinum's additions
- Platinum's story expansions added on top of the original Diamond and Pearl campaign, plus new password-unlocked events
- Seven Pokémon retyped, with Pokémon and move stats updated to modern Generation IX standards (a Faithful patch keeps the originals)
- Space-time distortions scattered across Sinnoh holding fossil, legendary and mythical Pokémon, on top of the usual static and roaming encounters
- Reusable TMs, and new evolution items replacing every former trade evolution
- 130+ new move-tutor moves across ten NPCs, plus an egg-move tutor at the Day-Care
- An Advance Radar (GBA cartridge required) and a modernized Poké Radar for rarer wild encounters
- Daily gym leader, Elite Four and Champion rematches once Stark Mountain's story event is cleared
