Pokémon Crystal Advance Redux
Crystal rebuilt inside FireRed by hand: every Pokémon follows you, Johto and Kanto with day, night and seasons, 553 species in the dex, and every gym leader fought as a double battle.
More about the game
Crystal Advance Redux is arnie's remake of Pokémon Crystal on the FireRed engine, built entirely with binary tools rather than a decompilation. It keeps the Johto-then-Kanto structure and adds a great deal on top: nine playable protagonists, a day-night-and-seasons system with lit nights, 553 Pokémon in the dex including Gen 3 and 4 species and regional forms, a Fairy type, every Gym Leader as a double battle, reworked learnsets and evolution methods, following Pokémon with custom sprites, bedroom decorations, Hidden Grottos, an optional level-cap and soft-Nuzlocke mode, and a GB Player with remastered audio. Builds are dated rather than numbered; this page tracks the 9 September 2026 build.
What's different, point by point
- Johto and Kanto on the FireRed engine, with the extra areas that Liquid Crystal added
- Nine protagonists to choose from, drawn from the first four generations
- 553 Pokémon in the Pokédex, including Gen 3 and 4 species and newer regional forms; every one can follow you
- Fairy type, with Goldenrod reworked as a Normal/Fairy gym; the Physical/Special split
- Every Gym Leader is a double battle, and trainer levels run well above Crystal's
- Trade evolutions replaced by held-item level-ups; Eevee evolves by stone only
- Optional level caps with several difficulty settings, and a soft Nuzlocke mode
- Day, night and seasons that change the environment and outdoor battle backgrounds
- Gen 6 style Exp. Share, Nature Mints, Ability Pills, portable PC, reusable TMs
- Bedroom decorations, Hidden Grottos, a working PokéRadio and a GB Player with remastered tracks

What this page covers
This page is a listing rather than a guide. Its creators asked us to keep documentation of their game to a minimum, so none of the usual sections are here: no wild encounters, no stats or movesets, no TM lists and no trainer teams. That is their call, not a gap we are hoping to fill later. Ask in the Crystal Advance Redux Discord

About this page
Why This Page Has No TablesThis is a listing, not a guide. Crystal Advance Redux is a binary hack with no source repository, and its creator has said in the release thread that he will not be publishing documentation. The site's rule is that every number comes from the hack's own documentation, so there are no encounter tables, movesets, TM locations or trainer teams here until that changes. The community keeps its own spreadsheets, but they are fan-compiled and are not used here.
VersionsReleases are named by date (this one is 9-9-26) and arrive through the creator's Discord and Hackdex. Save files usually carry across builds, but check the changelog on Hackdex before updating.
Level CapsThe level-cap system is optional and has several settings; the actual cap values are not published by the creator.
