What makes it different

A demo, and a rebuild: Unova rerouted, a new Pokédex, a changed type chart and a level cap at every boss — as far as the third gym.

More about the game

Blinding White Plus is a work in progress, and this guide covers exactly as much of it as exists. Demo 2 runs from Aspertia City to the moment you beat Burgh, the third gym leader, and stops there. Inside that stretch the creator has rebuilt the game: the route order through Unova is different, the Pokédex is new, five match-ups on the type chart have changed, and every boss carries a level cap you are meant to play under. It is a ground-up rework of the creator's earlier game, Blinding White 2, rather than a patch on top of it — the two are separate downloads with separate documentation, and where the older game's notes and this one disagree, nothing from the older game has been carried over here. You pick Normal or Hardcore at the start and can switch at any time; Hardcore gives several bosses an extra team member. Everything past Burgh is simply not built yet.

What's different, point by point

  • A demo: the story from Aspertia City through the third gym, and no further
  • Unova rerouted — trainers, areas and story beats moved from where Black 2 and White 2 put them
  • A new regional Pokédex, with changed base stats, types and abilities
  • Five changes to the type chart, including Bug hitting Fairy for double damage
  • Normal and Hardcore modes, switchable at any time, with extra boss Pokémon on Hardcore
  • A level cap at every boss, minibosses included
  • Each gym leader lets you choose a singles team or a doubles team
  • Minibosses scattered through the region that pay out Comet Shards to spend
  • A second starter given to you in Flocessy Town, on top of the Unova one
  • A built-in cheat menu that can unlock the difficulty modes from the start

What this guide covers

Every guide here is built from the game's own documentation. Where a ROM hack changed something but never published the numbers, this says so rather than quietly filling the gap with the original game's — which would be worse than leaving it out.

SectionSource
Wild Pokémon by areaFrom the game itselfEvery area the creator's own pages for this demo publish a wild table for — the run from Aspertia City to Burgh. Nothing past the third gym is here, because the game does not go past it yet. The creator's sheet
Encounter ratesFrom the game itselfThe creator's own rate for every slot.
Wild levelsFrom the game itselfThe creator's own level range for every slot.
Stats, abilities and movesetsFrom the game itselfAll 455 species on the creator's regional dex, with this game's base stats, types, abilities and evolution methods. Level-up moves are published for 169 of them; the creator says in the sheet that some species you meet before the third gym still need theirs written out. The creator's sheet
TM and HM compatibilityFrom the game itselfThe creator's full TM and HM list, 101 of them, with the move each one teaches.
Where TMs are foundFrom the game itself25 TMs and HMs, the ones inside the demo. The creator's whole-game TM list places the rest, but in areas this demo does not reach and on a page that has not been rewritten for it, so those are left out. The creator's sheet
Trainer and boss teamsFrom the game itselfEvery trainer on the creator's three story pages for this demo, with levels, held items, natures, abilities and full movesets — Normal and Hardcore teams both, and both the singles and doubles team for each gym leader. One team in the Castelia Sewers has no trainer name in the sheet and is listed without one. The creator's sheet

Reading the tables

DemoThis is a guide to Demo 2, which ends when you beat Burgh. Every table here stops at that point. The creator's sheet also carries pages for the rest of Unova, but those belong to the earlier game, Blinding White 2, and none of them are used here.

ModesWhere a fight has a Normal team and a Hardcore team, both are listed. The difference is an extra Pokémon on Hardcore; the rest of the team is the same.

GymsEach gym leader asks whether you want to battle in singles or doubles, and fields a different team for each. Both are listed.

TypechartFive match-ups on the type chart are different in this game — they are listed on the guide page. The “How to beat this team” hints on a boss page are worked out from the standard chart, so check those five lines before you lean on a Bug, Grass, Ice or Normal move.

RivalHugh's team depends on the starter you picked — he takes the one that beats yours. Benga's does too: he carries the second starter you were not handed in Flocessy Town.

TagteamsSome trainers stand in pairs and battle you together. The sheet gives each of them their own team, so each is listed separately here.

CapsThe level cap shown for a fight is the creator's own number, and it is the same on Normal and Hardcore. The sheet publishes one cap per fight and no separate Hardcore figure.

PlaytestThe wild tables for the Virbank stretch — the run from Cheren to Roxie — are marked "Playtest" by the creator and are not final. They are shown as written, with that said on each table.

RatesPercentages are the creator's own encounter rates; * marks anything at 5% or less.

SeasonsRoute 20's west side has a different table for each season, and the Castelia Sewers trainers come in a different order depending on the season. The teams are the same either way.

LearnsetsLevel-up moves are shown for the 169 species the creator has written them out for. The sheet says in its own words that some Pokémon you meet before the third gym still need their movesets documented, so a blank moveset here means the creator has not published it yet.

MovesMove powers are the creator's own figures, taken from the trainer teams. The game changes moves and adds new ones, and no move table is published, so type, category, accuracy and PP are left blank rather than filled in from Black 2 and White 2.

TMsTM numbers and names come from the creator's TM list. Locations come from the three story pages the creator has rewritten for this demo, so only the TMs inside the demo have one. Where the two pages disagree about which move a number is, the demo page is the one used.
