About Unbound
Unbound is widely held to be the most complete Pokémon ROM hack ever made. It keeps FireRed's engine and nothing else — the Borrius region, its story, its towns and its cast are all original, and the game carries Pokémon and mechanics from the first eight generations along with Mega Evolution, raid dens, character customisation, a difficulty setting you choose at the start, and a sprawling side-quest system. This guide covers every wild encounter table, every Pokémon's stats, abilities, level-up moves, egg moves, tutors and TM compatibility, drawn from the data Skeli publishes as source.
What's changed
- An original region, story and cast rather than a reworked Kanto
- Pokémon and mechanics from the first eight generations
- Mega Evolution, raid dens and a full side-quest system
- Difficulty chosen at the start, from Vanilla up to Insane
- Character customisation with hundreds of combinations
- 128 TMs and 146 move tutors
- Day and night encounter tables
What this guide covers
Every guide here is built from the hack's own documentation. Where a hack changed something but never published the numbers, this says so rather than quietly filling the gap with the original game's — which would be worse than leaving it out.
| Section | Source | |
|---|---|---|
| Wild Pokémon by area | From the hack | Every named area's wild tables, day and night, from the hack's own encounter data. |
| Encounter rates | From the hack | |
| Wild levels | From the hack | |
| Stats, abilities and movesets | From the hack | Stats, types, abilities, level-up moves, egg moves and tutors, from the data Skeli publishes as source. |
| TM and HM compatibility | From the hack | All 128 TMs and HMs, with the full compatibility list on every Pokémon's page. |
| Where TMs are found | Not published by the hack | Unbound moves the TMs around its own region, and where each one sits was never published as data — only in the community location guide. Location guide on the release thread |
| Trainer and boss teams | Not published by the hack | Unbound rebuilds every trainer in the game and scales boss levels to the difficulty you chose at the start, so their teams have no fixed levels to publish. The community documents them in spreadsheets rather than in the hack's data, so this guide doesn't reproduce them. SkiDY's trainer documentation, linked from the release thread |

Reading the tables
RatesUnbound keeps FireRed's encounter slot structure, so the percentages here are FireRed's slot rates applied to the hack's own species tables. * marks anything at 5% or less.
StagesUnbound doesn't publish its story order in any machine-readable form, so rather than invent a badge order the stage picker is built from the levels the game itself uses: each area sits in the band of its lowest wild level. It answers “can I go here yet” without claiming an order the data doesn't state.
TrainersTrainer and boss teams are not included. Unbound publishes them only as hand-maintained community spreadsheets, and their levels are relative to your level cap rather than absolute, so there is nothing here we could reproduce accurately. Use SkiDY's trainer documentation linked from the release thread.
TmsTM and HM compatibility is complete — every Pokémon's page lists what it can learn. Where each TM is *found* is not published as data, so those are marked as not documented.
Areas43 of Unbound's encounter tables exist in the data with no published area name, so they aren't listed here. Everything named is complete.
VersionGenerated from the Unbound branch of Dynamic Pokémon Expansion. Move and ability data come from Complete FireRed Upgrade, which has moved on slightly since Unbound was finished, so a small number of newer moves may differ from what's in your copy.
