What makes it different

The Galar region, its gym challenge and both expansions, rebuilt as a Game Boy Advance game on FireRed and the CFRU engine.

More about the game

Sword and Shield Ultimate Plus is a demake of the Switch games for the Game Boy Advance, built on FireRed with the Complete FireRed Upgrade. It began as PCL.G's Portuguese SwSh GBA in 2020, was remade on CFRU by Jeanstars as SwSh Ultimate in 2023, overhauled again by PCL.G as Ultimate Plus, and is translated, maintained and extended in English by phantonomy. The whole Galar story is here — the gym challenge, the Wild Area, the Slumbering Weald, Wyndon — and the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra follow it as post-game, with Dynamax and Gigantamax in the fights that allow them, Mega Evolution and Z-Moves from side quests, a DexNav, a built-in pseudo-randomiser and a Pokédex of every species through Generation 8 plus a handful from later. The wiki behind this guide covers where each Pokémon is found, its stats and abilities, how it evolves and where the notable items are; it does not yet cover trainers, TMs or moves, and the guide says so wherever that shows.

What's different, point by point

  • Galar on the GBA: the gym challenge and story, the Wild Area in nine sections, and the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra as post-game
  • Every species from Generations 1 to 8 with Alolan and Galarian forms, plus the Hisuian starters, Dipplin, Hydrapple and Archaludon
  • Dynamax and Gigantamax in the battles that allow them, Mega Evolution through the Mega Ring and Z-Moves through the Z-Ring, both earned in side quests
  • A Link Cable item in place of trade evolutions, the Rotom Bike and Water Bike in place of HMs, a Fly Map, a portable PC in the Rotom Phone, and an Ability Pill for hidden abilities
  • DexNav, a day/night cycle, visible EVs and IVs with IVs maxed by default, new music, and a pseudo-randomiser toggle in your bedroom
  • 76 areas with wild tables, 1027 Pokémon and forms with stats and abilities, 461 evolution lines and 60 notable item placements from the maintainer's wiki

What this guide covers

Every guide here is built from the game's own documentation. Where a ROM hack changed something but never published the numbers, this says so rather than quietly filling the gap with the original game's — which would be worse than leaving it out.

SectionSource
Wild Pokémon by areaFrom the game itselfEvery route page on the wiki, 76 areas and 275 tables, plus the Raid Den and camping rows the species pages carry.
Encounter ratesFrom the game itselfPercentages are the wiki's own, added together where a species fills two slots. Raid Den figures are shown as written because they are not percentages.
Wild levelsFrom the game itselfLevel ranges are the wiki's own where its route page prints one; tables without a level show a dash.
Stats, abilities and movesetsFrom the game itselfTypes, abilities and base stats for all 1027 species and forms on the wiki, and evolution methods from its evolutions page. Level-up learnsets and TM compatibility are not published, so no moves are listed. See the wiki
TM and HM compatibilityNot published by the creatorThe wiki does not list which TMs and TRs exist in the game or which Pokémon learn them. See the wiki, or ask on the Discord SwSh Ultimate Plus is built on FireRed / LeafGreen; the FireRed / LeafGreen guide has the original game's TM and HM compatibility.
Where TMs are foundNot published by the creatorNot on the wiki; its maintainer lists exact item locations for all items among the things still missing. Ask on the Discord SwSh Ultimate Plus is built on FireRed / LeafGreen; the FireRed / LeafGreen guide has the original game's TM locations.
Trainer and boss teamsNot published by the creatorNo trainer, gym leader or rival roster is published anywhere by the game's makers, so there are no rosters here. Ask on the Discord SwSh Ultimate Plus is built on FireRed / LeafGreen; the FireRed / LeafGreen guide has the original game's trainer teams.

Reading the tables

SpritesGroudon (Mega), Indeedee (Female) and Zygarde (50%) have no sprite in this site's shared set, so their pages show the picture the game's own wiki puts on each species page (docs/img/pokemon/ in the wiki repository), served from this site and credited above. Every other species shows the usual official sprite. Like screenshots, it comes down at once if the team asks.

SourceEvery table here is read from the wiki phantonomy maintains for the game at ddaretrogamer.github.io/sword-and-shield-ultimate-plus-wiki: the species pages (types, abilities, base stats, locations), the route pages (wild tables with rates and levels), the evolutions page, and the item and fossil location pages. Nothing is filled in from FireRed or from the Switch games.

GapsThe wiki has no trainer rosters, no TM or TR list, no move data and no learnsets, and its maintainer lists most raid den spawns as still missing. Those sections are marked as not published rather than guessed at. Ask on the game's Discord if you need them.

LevelsWild levels are the range printed on the wiki's route page. Some tables, mostly in the Wild Areas, carry no level there, and are shown with a dash rather than a guess.

RaidsRaid Den tables come from the location table on each species page, since the route pages only list dens for the Dynamax Adventure. The wiki's den figures are per-species numbers that do not add to 100, so they are shown as written rather than as percentages.

FormsRegional, Mega and other forms have their own wiki page and so their own page here, named the way this site names forms: "Meowth (Galar)", "Charizard (Mega X)". The wiki's typo page "Meag Sharpedo" is folded into Sharpedo (Mega).

ProgressThe wiki publishes no gym-leader list, so stages are named by the badge counts its own item table uses as requirements, with areas placed in the order the wiki lists them. Treat a stage as "about when you get here".

ItemsThe item list is the wiki's own curated one — key items, Zygarde Cells, fossils, the rods and the vendor in Wild Area 3 South — not every item in the game. Where the wiki gives a badge requirement, the stage follows it.

HmsThere are no HM field moves in the usual sense: the Cutter cuts trees, the Water Bike surfs, the Dive Goggles dive and the Fly Map flies. Each is on the items page with where it comes from.
