How the game plays differently from Pokémon Crystal, then every stat, type and ability it alters next to what the official games do.
How the game plays
Pokemon Prism began as Koolboyman's solo Crystal-engine project: a new four-region adventure (Naljo, Rijon, Tunod and the Sevii Islands) built on the pokecrystal disassembly, with its own Pokemon (Fambaco, Raiwato, Phancero, Libabeel, Varaneous), its own moves, and its own additions to the Gen 2 type chart (Fairy, Gas and Sound all exist as real types here, years before Fairy appeared in an official game). Nintendo issued a takedown shortly before its planned 2016 release; the source and a build leaked publicly days later, and RainbowDevs picked the project up from that leak and have continued developing it since. This guide is generated from that original leaked source, not from RainbowDevs' newer, unreleased work, and it says so wherever that gap matters.
The main changes
- 253 Pokemon across four new regions, including several original to Prism
- Three type-chart additions of Prism's own: Fairy, Gas and Sound
- 95 TMs and 6 HMs, read from the hack's own tables
- Morning, day and night wild encounter tables across Naljo and Rijon
- Eight Naljo gym leaders plus a full Rijon Elite Four and Champion
- An unfinished game: Tunod's wild encounters and a few named trainers were never filled in as of this source
