Two Pokémon side by side — the same one in two different ROM hacks, or two different Pokémon in the same game. Or two ROM hacks against each other, to pick the one to play next. Every number comes from the game's own documentation.
A guide only appears in the dropdown for a Pokémon it actually includes. Official data is present-day reference data, so on a pre-Gen-6 game a Fairy typing or a hidden ability can belong to the series rather than to the ROM hack.
Green marks a line where the two differ. Areas, Pokémon and fights are what each guide holds, which is what the creator documented — a smaller number can mean a smaller game or a thinner document.
